Walking in Jordan Jubilee !

Hokayyyyy - Last week we took a marvelous trip to Jordan ! We had a jam-packed schedule for the 4 days we were there , but we were able to do and see lots of VERY cool things . It was a grand trip and I loved every minute .

JORDAN DAY #1

We boarded the bus bright and early and took off for the border ! We were able to get through  the check point quickly  , and with another on my passport , poof !  Hello Jordan !

We stopped at Mount Nebo once we were in Jordan .  Such a spectacular view !
This is the mountain where Moses is believed to have been when he saw the Promised Land ,  and there was even a sculpture of the brazen serpent at the overlook .
Overlook from Mount Nebo and Serpent Sculpture
Giant stone believe to have been
a door of the Byzantine church

Mosaics!

Next up we stopped at St. Georges Church - where the oldest map in the world is located !
The map is made of teeny tiny mosaic tiles and covers the floor of the church .  I was amazed at how beautiful and large the map is - it used to be 17x10 meters ,  but over the years it has suffered a lil' wear & tear and now it is about 10x5 meters . . .

I'm the map I'm the map!

Our last stop was in Machaerus, where we made a little trek up to a fortified palace . This is the location where John the Baptist was beheaded . At the top of the hill we read scriptures, sang hymns, & explored the ruins . VERY cool to be at such an ancient site, and another spectacular view !
The hike up ... and what was up

Hiking Beatles style
Then we headed to the hotel , where we were greeted with delicious juice , pita bread and olive oil , flute players , white horses , and a delicious dinner .  As if that wasn't enough ,  after dinner we broke out in a spontaneous a dance party with the hotel staff and danced the night away ! Crazy business .

The next day we were off to see  . . .  PETRA !
